لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله وعلى آله وصحبه وسلم أما بعد: فيقول رب العزة جل وعلا: وجزاء سيئة سيئة مثلها فمن عفا وأصلح فأجره على الله إنه لا يحب الظالمين {الشورى: 40}. والمعنى: أن من عفا عمن ظلمه، فلم يقابل السيئة بمثلها وأصلح بالعفو بينه وبين ظالمه، فسيكسب بذلك أجرا عند الله. قال مقاتل: فكان العفو من الأعمال الصالحة. والذي يظهر -والعلم عند الله- أن المراد بمن عفا: هو من لم يأخذ بحقه ممن ظلمه فتركه ابتغاء وجه الله، وأن المراد بمن أصلح: من أسقط حقه وزاد على ذلك، بأن قابل السيئة بالحسنة، وأهدى إلى ظالمه هدية أو دفع عنه مضرة. فالحاصل: أن من عفا وأصلح ليس كمن عفا فقط، فلذلك كان الجمع بين الأمرين محتاجا إلى كثير من الصبر، وكان الجامع بينهما ذا حظ عظيم. والله أعلم
